What a fun week we had! It was busy, busy with our visit from Let's Bake, snowman activities, games day, and some special activities planned by Chelsea and Kayla.
Let's Bake
A HUGE thank you goes out to Tracy McArthur, Danika Auser, Amber-Lea McCarty, Jessica Marazzo, Jen Iliffe, and Nicole Howatt who graciously donated their time to bake with us on Thursday. Our day was jam packed and full of fun. The day started with learning about baking, wheat, and flour. The students were able to see some wheat as well as watch wheat get ground into flour.
After a detailed lesson on how to wash our hands, each student was fitted with a hat and apron. Then we dove right into baking bread and cinnamon knots. The students each took a loaf of bread home and enjoyed their cinnamon knots for a snack!
At the end we learned about how wheat grows and is harvested. We also planted some wheat that we will grow in our classroom. The Bread Lady left behind some wheat centers for the students to explore in the classroom over the next week!
Thank you to Let's Bake for a fun filled day! You can click here to see more pictures of our baking adventures.
The Biggest Snowman
This week we read "The Biggest Snowman Ever" by Steven Kroll. Then we challenged the students with a wonder... do you think we could make a really big snowman?
That's where our big snowman project began. The students worked in groups to trace and draw out some HUGE snowmen. Next week we will paint them and add the finishing details. You can click here to see more pictures from this activity.
Bear Centers
Our classroom occupational therapist Kayla, along with our classroom speech and language pathologist Chelsea, planned some fun activities for our classroom on Tuesday.
The students first enjoyed reading a version of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." They then rotated through stations that focused on developing fine motor, gross motor, and speech and language skills. Click here to see more pictures of the centers.
We had a games day on Monday. Throughout the week we also enjoyed some different snowman stations during including "stuff the snowman" and ice exploration in the sensory bin. You can click here to see the rest of the pictures from our busy week.
