Spring has Sprung!

It looks like spring has finally sprung in Devon. We celebrated spring last week by painting spring flowers, creating rain clouds in a jar, and singing a cute little spring song. The song we sang is called "Spring is Here" you can sing it at home too!

Painting Flowers

Thank you Mrs. Waters' kindergarten class for letting us borrow your paint shirts this week. We had fun strengthening our hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while we painted, cut, and glued together our flowers.

Rain Cloud in a Jar

We explored scientific concepts by making rain clouds in a jar. You can make rain clouds at home too. Our students loved this project, lots of them even asked to take the clouds home! Making a rain cloud is simple:
  1. Fill a clear jar 3/4 of the way with water
  2. Add a 1-2 inch layer of shave cream
  3. Use eye droppers to drop colored water onto the shaving cream
  4. Watch your cloud to see when it starts raining!

Animal Breathing

We introduced our students to a new calming technique this week, animal breathing. Animal breathing involves laying on your back with a stuffed animal on your tummy while breathing in and out slowly. If you breath deep enough you can see your animal going up and down with your tummy.

Mindful Coloring

We participated in mindful coloring on Thursday. The students enjoyed quietly coloring while listening to relaxing music.

A Very Hungry Caterpillar

We read and sequenced "A Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle using felt boards and pictures this week. We followed the caterpillars journey as he ate through various foods, built a cocoon around himself, and eventually emerged as a beautiful butterfly.
