Those Sneaky Leprechauns!

From St. Patrick's Day shenanigans to Easter fun, it has been a busy week!

We couldn't believe those sneaky Leprechauns played tricks on us twice this week!  Sadly we did not catch any in our traps.

Print Making!

Imagination Academy spent time on Thursday with both of our classes.  The students learned about print making and each made their own authentic under the sea themed print!  Thank you Mrs. Lindsey for being patient, kind, and teaching us how to do print making.  We had a wonderful under the sea experience!

Step 1: Draw your picture on the special foam paper

Step 2: Roll on the ink

Step 3: Put your picture through the press

Step 4: Peel off your foam drawing to reveal your masterpiece

Ta Da!!! Beautiful

Happy Easter

Somehow we managed to squish Easter in around the St. Patrick's Day and Imagination Academy fun.

Bunny science experiment.  What will happen if we put water and a small piece of an Alka Seltzer tab in a plastic bunny egg?  The results were oh so "egg-citing!"

Strengthening our fine motor skills with a cute bunny craft.

Dying Eggs

Miss Kayla and Mrs. Bowers created some fun pancake themed stations for us to rotate through this week.  One of the stations was exploring with food in new ways.  Check out this delicious creation - pancakes with pickles and banana slices!

A little bit of Easter, a little bit of St.Pats!

This week we brainstormed more ways we can be kind. If students do an act of kindness they may receive a kindness card.  Here are our two kiddos that were extra  kind this week!

Spell-a-Thon!

Students have been working hard on sequencing the letters in their name!

Painting Easter Eggs

Students filled Easter eggs with their choice of rocks, beans, popcorn kernels ect.
Then they rolled their egg in paint in a tin foil pan to create a neat Easter painting.

Fun in Phys Ed!

Easter bunnies gathering Easter eggs!

Going Green!

Making green slime for the sensory bin!

Creating Shamrock Sun Catchers!

Stay tuned to see the finished product!

These busy bees have been making  leprechaun traps! You know what they say . . . if you catch a leprechaun you get to keep their gold!

Food exploration! Students explored licorise and then practiced their snipping.
Once the licorice was snipped into small pieces they were ready to eat!
We practiced the "s" in snip and the "c" in cut!

Prehistoric Times!

Last week we continued with our dinosaur unit.

The students were excited that their dinosaur teeth were finally dry and ready to take home!

We used salt, water, and hammers to hatch baby dinosaur eggs.

On Wednesday we were paleontologists.  We went hunting for dinosaurs throughout the school.

Just how big was a T-Rex?  We compared our feet to the size of a dinosaur foot print.

Our morning class discovered that we can fit 22 of our shoes into one T-Rex foot print!
The afternoon class was able to fit 20 shoes into their T-Rex foot print.

I Can Throw!

In the gym we strengthened our throwing skills by playing one of our favorite games, not in my backyard.  This game not only develops essential gross motor skills, but also focuses on language development because the students are encouraged to say "not in my backyard" as they throw the balls over the "fence" into their neighbors yard.

Mr. Paul

We were happy to have Mr. Paul for a visit this past Monday.  Mr. Paul is a musical occupational therapist who visits our classroom from time to time.  During this visit we enjoyed deep breathing with Mr. Paul's musical bowl.  We also did yoga and sang different songs while Mr. Paul played his mandolin.  At the end of his visit each student had a chance to try out Mr. Paul's musical bowl before he left.

Stomping through the land before time!

This week we stomped into our dinosaurs unit! Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Velociraptors and many more! We sang this song each day and students added in their own silly actions like dance or drive.

Dinosaur Music and Movement Activity More

Throughout the week students used toy dinosaurs to create footprints in play-doh and paint. Here they made their own footprints! Extra baths needed this week, sorry! (Hehe)

Patiently waiting for a turn!

Dinosaur Teeth Necklaces!

Students learned about dinosaurs having different teeth depending on what they eat. Meat eaters might have more pointy teeth while plant eaters might have more rounded teeth.  This conversation led us into making our own dinosaur teeth! Students worked together to make play-doh and then formed the play-doh into pointy shaped teeth. Next week we will make our teeth into necklaces for the children to take home. Stay tuned!

Say "NO" to Bullying!

"It's not cool to be cruel!"
